Today I’m very excited to bring you this much requested tutorial – an impressionist digital painting style influenced by Vincent Van Gogh. I’ve been wanting to create a “Starry Night” inspired video since I released my Painterly brushes, but I’ve put it off because I’ve not been 100% happy with my technique. Here is where I challenge myself to lean into my belief that art is about the experience of creating, NOT about a “perfect” result. I will show this process using a free color palette and my paid set of Painterly brushes for Procreate – though you could try this idea using any other brushes you have as well.
You can watch the tutorial by clicking the video link below, and you will also find written instructions and other details in the video description.
This piece is heavily influenced by Van Gogh’s “Starry Night,” but is not meant to be a replica. I really enjoyed having an anchor to guide me while I explored my favorite aspects of this classic piece. Spoiler alert – I’m here for the swirls!I
