In this process video, I use digital alcohol inks to create a minimalist, wispy ribbon. This was painted in Procreate on a 16×20 inch canvas at 300 DPI, using my custom Amazing Alcohol Ink brushes (download link above). The most important brush used in the video is called “XL Brush Stroke.”
This is a set of carefully crafted brushes which allow you to create realistic alcohol ink artwork right on your iPad. Best of all is it blissfully uncomplicated and 100% customisable, without resorting to stamps, clipping masks, or any complicated techniques that interrupt the flow. And alcohol ink artwork is all about the flow.
Harnessing the full power of Procreate 5, these brushes can create effects never before seen on an iPad. This medium is notoriously difficult to achieve digitally and it has been a personal mission of mine, as an analogue alcohol ink artist, to make this medium more accessible in a digital format for those who do not have the time, space, money, optimal air circulation, protective equipment, etc required to use real alcohol inks.
